IFRDMD attends SEAFDEC Meeting series in Singapore
The Chief of SEAFDEC/IFRDMD, Mr. Andi Soesmono, and Deputy Chief, Mr. Toru Shimoda, together with the Senior Officer, attended SEAFDEC’s series of meetings, namely the forty-seventh SEAFDEC Programme Committee Meeting, the twenty-seventh Meeting of the ASEAN-SEAFDEC Strategic Partnership Consultative Group (FCG/ASSP), and the 2024 Chief’s Departmental Meeting on 2-7 December 2024 in Singapore.
These meetings are of the utmost importance to SEAFDEC’s mission. They foster regional cooperation and ensure that fisheries development initiatives are well coordinated and aligned with the common goals of Southeast Asian countries. IFRDMD’s active participation in these meetings underscores its commitment to the cause.
On this occasion, IFRDMD delivered two presentations entitled (a) Management Scheme of Inland Fisheries in Southeast Asian Region, and (b) Sustainable Utilisation of Anguillid Eel Fisheries in Southeast Asia Region, which are the results of 5-year research (2020-2024) with funding support from Japan Trust Fund VI Phase 2. In addition, IFRDMD submitted a project entitled Enhanced Research Capacities for Sustainable Utilisation and Management of Eel and Other Inland Fisheries Resources, which is an activity that will be carried out for 5 years (2025-2029) with funding support from Japan Trust Fund VII.
