The Yellow Eel Survey in Bengkulu, Indonesia

 

SEAFDEC/IFRDMD conducted the field survey for a better understanding of the current situation of the catadromous eels resources. The research has been conducted on 4-6 October 2017 in Bengkulu by a support from JTF-VI, representative by Ms. Ni Komang Suryati and Dr. Dina Muthmainnah. Bengkulu or Southwest Sumatra, Indonesia is on the southwest coast of the island of Sumatra. Fisher usually captures yellow eel from the wild, by using the modified fish trap (local name is bubu). The fisher sells the caught to the collector, and the collector is transferred to Palabuhan Ratu and Bogor, West Java. They met the enumerator and got the information about the present situation of yellow eel market. (#dina_mth)
