On 1-2 October 2024, IFRDMD conducted an In-House Training on Integrating Tactical Decision Strategies into the EAFM Cycle at the Ondara Meeting Room, SEAFDEC/IFRDMD Building, Palembang, Indonesia. The instructor was Prof Dr Luky Adrianto, a Lecturer at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, IPB University. Participants included staff at the Research Institute for Inland Fisheries and Extension, lecturers from Sriwiaya University, and IFRDMD staff, who consisted of 15 men and 13 women.
The Chief of IFRDMD opened the training, Mr Andi Soesmono, who conveyed that the objective of the training was to equip the participants with the knowledge and skills required to integrate tactical decision-making strategies into the EAFM cycle. By the end of the training, participants will be able to understand the critical components of tactical decision-making within the EAFM framework, be able to develop decision-making strategies that consider ecological, social, and economic factors in fisheries management, and apply the learned techniques to improve the sustainability of fisheries resources in their area of responsibility.
The participants were not passive observers but active contributors throughout the training. Their commitment to learning and improving their skills was evident in their enthusiastic participation in the Q&A sessions. This level of engagement is a testament to their dedication to the topic and their eagerness to apply the learned techniques to improve the sustainability of fisheries resources in their area of responsibility. The event was concluded by the Deputy Chief of IFRDMD, Mr Toru Shimoda, who expressed his appreciation to the instructors and congratulated the participants on their successful completion of the training.
