Chief of SEAFDEC/IFRDMD Attends The International Conference on River Connectivity in Albury, New South Wales, Autralia

Attending the International Conference on River Connectivity (Fish Passage 2018) and the First Symposium on Hydropower and Fish Management in Albury, New South Wales, Australia. Chief SEAFDEC/IFRDMD, Dr. Arif Wibowo, is present at this opportunity. This is the first time that the fish passage conference holds in the Southern Hemisphere which is very tropical given that fish passage have been a central component of hydropower design worldwide and is at the headwaters of the Muray River, the lifeblood of the largest river basin in Australia. The Murray-Darling basin embodies a diverse range of fish passage works and is home to an array of innovative solutions. Being the centre of fish passage innovation in Australia for well over decade.

            On the sidelines of the event, also held limited meetings with the upcoming partners/donor agency (ACIAR and FAO) for fish passage project in Indonesia. This meeting becomes a good way for Research Institute for Inland Fisheries (RIIFE) and Fisheries Extension and SEAFDEC/IFRDMD’s institutional and research promotion. The FAO-Fish Passage project in collaboration with ACIAR is planned to be managed by RIIFE with Indonesia and Myanmar as research sites. The achievements of the project in form of publication and upcoming proposal depict in Annex.
