IFRDMD Conducts Socioeconomic Survey in Muara Enim, Indonesia

On February 25, 2025, the Inland Fishery Resources Development and Management Department (IFRDMD) conducted a socioeconomic survey by interviewing 25 fishers in Patra Tani Village, Muara Belida District, Muara Enim Regency, Indonesia. This activity is part of the “Improving Fishers’ Livelihood and Fisheries Co-Management in Inland and Coastal Small-Scale Fisheries” project funded by the Japan Trust Fund VII (JTF VII) in 2025. The survey continued the following day, February 26, 2025, in Gedung Buruk Village, where 27 fishers were interviewed.

The primary objective of this survey is to collect data on the status of inland fisheries, assess the conditions of fishing communities, and identify their needs and challenges. Through this initiative, IFRDMD aims to support sustainable fisheries management and improve the livelihoods of small-scale fishers by addressing their socioeconomic concerns.

This study will contribute to developing policies and strategies that enhance co-management approaches in fisheries, ensuring long-term sustainability and economic stability for the communities that rely on inland fisheries.
