IFRDMD conducts a regular survey in Palabuhan Ratu, West Java

IFRDMD team conducted a survey in Palabuhan Ratu, West Java, on 14-18 February 2022. This activity is under the project entitled Development of Stock Assessment Method and Strengthening of Resources Management Measures for Tropical Anguillid Eel in Southeast Asia, sponsored by Japan ASEAN Integrated Fund (JAIF).
As a regular survey, the team carried out the water quality measurement in Cimandiri and Cikaso River. The team also measured the length and weight of elver and yellow eel that were trapped by fishing gear installed at both rivers. The team also collected the bycatch of anguillid eels trapped in the fishing gear in the Cimandiri and Cikaso River.
The team visited the Cikaso waterfall, the habitat of yellow eel, in which in the last two years, the fishers could capture six individuals of yellow eel with 4-15 kg in weight.
