IFRDMD Attends the International Technical Workshop on Tropical Anguillid Eels in Southeast Asia
To give updates and report the progress on the achievements and results from baseline survey, regular survey, and assessment the status and trends of tropical Anguillid Eels through various sources of data/information, SEAFDEC organized the International Technical Workshop on Tropical Anguillid Eels in Southeast Asia on 7-8 June 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand. This workshop was attended by representative from ASEAN member states (Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam), FAO, Zoological Society of London, assessment committee, JANUS as well as SEAFDEC Department (Secretariat, AQD dan IFRDMD). The objective and agenda of the workshop were introduced by SEAFDEC Secretary General followed by the presentation from the Dr. Somboon Siriraksophon and Mr. Isao Koya to present the Introduction of the Project and Progress report on Baseline survey. Ms. Ni Komang Suryati, a representative from IFRDMD, presented the progress report of regular survey, while Dr. Malou from AQD presented the survey to improve the survival rate of the eels at the aquaculture. In the last session, the participants discussed the draft of the information documents which will be submitted to CITES the Animals Committee (AC30) in July 2018
