IFRDMD PARTICIPATED IN 19TH FCG/ASSP AND SEAFDEC DEPARTMENT CHIEFS’ MEETING

Dr. Arif Wibowo (Chief), Dr. Satoshi Honda (Deputy Chief), Dr. Dina Muthmainnah (Special Departmental Coordinator) together with supporting staff for writing the report (Ms. Ni Komang Suryati, Mr. Aroef Hukmanan Rais and Mr. Dwi Atminarso) and for handling the administration (Ms. Nurwanti), participated in 19th FCG/ASSP on 1-2 December 2016 that held back to back with SEAFDEC Department Chiefs’ Meeting on 3 December 2016, in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

The ASEAN-SEAFDEC Fisheries Consultative Group (FCG) mechanism was established in 1999, and through this collaborative mechanism, a joint program of planning and review has been conducted every year. Supported by ASEAN and SEAFDEC Member Countries, the programs will provide greater impact for the benefit of sustainable fisheries development in the region. In this opportunity, IFRDMD presented the regional policy recommendations on conservation and management of catadromous eel resources and promotion of sustainable aquaculture based on two years research in Indonesia (Bengkulu and Pelabuhan Ratu), Philippines (Cagayan) and Myanmar (Yangoon and Mandalay). The Meeting gave the support for continuing the Anguillid Eels research by adding Viet Nam as research site.

The Ministry Marine Affairs and Fisheries of Indonesia welcomed all participants to join the gala dinner in Prambanan Temple and watched the performed of Prambanan Ramayana Ballet.

In the SEAFDEC Department Chiefs’ Meeting, the participants discussed the follow up the 39th Meeting of SEAFDEC Program Committee and the 19th Meeting of ASEAN-SEAFDEC Strategic Partnership of the Fisheries Consultative Group (FCG), and also the arrangement on the 50th Anniversary of SEAFDEC in the next year. The meeting is closed by having dinner in Japanese restaurant hosted by SEAFDEC Secretariat for all SEAFDEC family. (#dina_mth)
