IFRDMD HELD THE IN-HOUSE TRAINING

ON FEATURES OF INLAND FISHERIES IN SOUTHEAST ASIA

The in-house training on features of inland fisheries in Southeast Asia was conducted by the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC)/Inland Fishery Resources Development and Management Department (IFRDMD) on 26-28 April 2017, Palembang, Indonesia. The in-house training was attended by researchers of SEAFDEC/IFRDMD. The training aimed to know how to conduct features study and find the key issues of inland fisheries in Southeast Asia. The Chief of SEAFDEC/IFRDMD, Dr. Arif Wibowo, welcomed participants, and expressed his utmost appreciation for the resource person, Dr. Luky Adrianto, whom is from Bogor Agricultural University, Indonesia.

Dr. Luky Adrianto explained Inland Fisheries-Global Challenged as introduction, ecosystem service in the perspective of inland fisheries, and proposed structure of the course on featured inland fisheries. Nowadays, inland capture fishery is stagnant despite aquaculture is growing. The lectures was beneficial for all participants to improve their capacity for future activities on project planning and implementation of activities on inland fisheries.

The in-house training expected to strengthen and improve capacity building of IFRDMD’s researchers. The Chief of SEAFDEC/IFRDMD  hoped that training would come up with the surely contribution to participants to study on inland fisheries resources and activities including aspetcs on social well-being of people dependent on inland aquatic resources.  (by: Dina Muthmainnah)
