BASELINE SURVEY ON ENHANCING SUSTAINABLE UTILIZATION AND MANAGEMENT SCHEME OF TROPICAL ANGUILLID EEL RESOURCES IN SOUTHEAST ASIA

To understand the current situation of the Anguillid eels resources, fisheries, distribution and farming of those species, on 18-19 August 2017, the researchers from SEAFDEC/Secretariat (Mr. Isao Koya, Senior Expert and Assistant Project) Manager, SEAFDEC/Training Department (Ms. Sumitra Ruangsivakul) and SEAFDEC/IFRDMD (Mr. Samuel and Mr. Yanu Prasetyo Pamungkas) conducted a survey in Palabuhan Ratu district, Sukabumi regency, West Java, Indonesia. While in Cambodia(Sihanoukville Province and Kampong Champ Province) on 28 August–1 September 2017, have been conducted by SEAFDEC/Secretariat (Dr. Kaoru Ishii/Deputy Secretary General), SEAFDEC/Training Department (Ms. Sumitra Ruangsivakul), SEAFDEC/IFRDMD (Mrs. Ni Komang Suryati and Mr. Yanu Prasetyo Pamungkas), accompanied by Dr. Buoy Roitana (Deputy Director of Inland fisheries research and development institute (IFReDI), FiA of Cambodia and Dr. Chea Tharith (Marine Fisheries research and development institute (MaFReDI), FiA of Cambodia). The researchers interviewed the glass eel middleman, glass eel collector and fisher and also visited the fishing ground. (#dina_mth)
