The lecture focused on “Branding and 6th Industrialization of Fisheries in Kochi Prefecture,” offering insights into sustainable development and value-chain enhancement for fisheries.
Dr. Hori highlighted the successful strategies implemented in Kochi Prefecture, where traditional fisheries are integrated with modern branding techniques and innovative business models. The “6th industrialization” approach, which combines primary production, secondary processing, and tertiary services, has strengthened the region’s fisheries sector, contributing to local economic growth and sustainable practices.
The event was held in a hybrid format, accommodating in-person and online attendees. Around 100 participants, including students and lecturers, joined the session from various academic institutions, such as the University of Fisheries Jakarta and Lampung, Universitas Sriwijaya, Universitas PGRI Palembang, Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang, Universitas Bengkulu, and Universitas Riau.
This collaborative event aimed to broaden participants’ understanding of fisheries management strategies and the importance of branding in promoting sustainable fisheries. IFRDMD’s initiative to invite international experts like Dr. Hori reinforces the importance of knowledge exchange and innovation in the inland fisheries sector. The lecture concluded with an engaging Q&A session, allowing participants to delve deeper into the concepts presented and explore the potential applications in Indonesia’s fisheries industry.
