Mr Tomohito Shimizu has completed his two-year term as Deputy Chief of the Inland Fishery Resources Development and Management Department (IFRDMD) in March 2024. During his tenure, Mr Shimizu played an important role especially in carrying out the implementation of projects supported by the Japan Trust Fund to achieve its goal of promoting the sustainable management and utilisation of inland fisheries resources and livelihoods in the Southeast Asia region.
A farewell reception was held on 9 March 2022 in Palembang, as well as breaking fast together at Mr Shimizu’s home, and attended by IFRDMD staff in Palembang.
IFRDMD staff recognised Mr Shimizu’s guidance and appreciation for his valuable contributions to IFRDMD and that being under his supervision was a great experience. Mr Shimizu expressed his sincere gratitude for the support and good cooperation of the Chief and all staff during his tenure as Deputy Chief of IFRDMD.
