IFRDMD carried out the regular survey of anguillid eels on 15 – 21 November 2021. The survey was conducted in two locations. One team visited Palabuhan Ratu of West Java, the other team visited Poso of Central Sulawesi.
In Palabuhan Ratu, the team checked the fishing gears installed in Cimandiri dan Cikaso River. Whereas, in Poso, the team checked the fishing gears installed in Poso and Tomasa River’s. In both locations, the fishing gears were installed to trap the glass eel, elver and yellow eel as the samples. The samples were measured for the routine data to obtain the length-weight of anguillid eels and other morphometric data. In all study sites, the team measured the water quality parameter, took a note of habitat condition, and recorded coordinate at the fishing gear. The team also observed market chain in Central Sulawesi from the collector of anguillid eel. Based on the information, Rano Lake is one of the waters that is inhabited by anguillid eels. Since it was a preliminary survey, it is hoped that other studies will continue.
