SEAFDEC/IFRDMD staff attended the Workshop on Utilization of Marine Resources and Management of Conservation Areas held on 24-26 September 2024 at Sriwijaya University, Inderalaya. The workshop was held as the Program of Independent Campus Competency phase 2 framework in 2024 at the Department of Marine Science, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University. The workshop was attended by lecturers of Sriwijaya University, staff of the Provincial/Regency/City Marine and Fisheries Office in South Sumatra, staff of the Padang Coastal and Marine Resources Management Centre of South Sumatra Province, staff of the Research Institute for Inland Fisheries and Extension, SEAFDEC/IFRDMD staff and students. The resources person was Prof. Dr. Dietrich G Bengen (Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, IPB University), Dr. Zaki Mubarok (Advocacy Team of Legal Bureau, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF))), Mr. Andi Rusadi (Directorate General of Marine Spatial Management, MMAF), and Mr. Candhika Yusuf (Marine Biodiversity Conservation Manager, WWF Indonesia). From this activity, IFRDMD noted that conservation activities in marine waters have common ground, where models and concepts of conservation management in marine waters can be adopted by adjusting to the characteristics of inland water ecosystems.
